Water and Ginseng, The Perfect Duo

Water and ginseng both do wonders for our health alone, but did you know when you mix them together they really do make the perfect duo. Have a read because by the end of this blog you’ll be mixing water and ginseng and seeing for yourself why it’s such a great combination.

In order to appreciate why this is such a great health combination let’s look at each component individually so you can see why they are firstly great alone, but secondly better together!

The wonder of water

With around 60% of our body being made up of water it is no wonder that consuming it would be beneficial for our health and body’s ability to stay alive (Water Science School, 2019). If that in itself isn’t reason enough to drink water daily, there are also lots of instantaneous benefits such as increased energy, reduced fatigue, healthier skin, reduced fluid retention, improved cognitive function and metabolism to name a few (Popkin et al., 2010).

Ginseng’s greatness

Ginseng is the superfood that has been used for centuries for its natural therapeutic benefits including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, improving energy and cognitive function, reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep and blood flow. On top of this ginseng has shown to be beneficial for chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes and cancer (Wee et al., 2011).

Why are they better together?

Why have just one health benefit when you could have both? Combining water and ginseng together not only gives you the health benefits of each but also creates even greater health benefits than neither would produce alone. As ginseng is a water soluble nutrient, the addition of water plays an important role. For example, mixing ginseng in water helps to increase digestibility and nutrient absorption (Jéquier & Constant, 2010). This better absorption helps to amplify the results such as higher absorption of antioxidants, greater energy, more effective anti-inflammatory action, and faster effects for reducing stress and anxiety. Another example is how both ginseng and water alone can improve cognitive function and concentration. When the body is both sufficiently hydrated and administered ginseng, its cognitive function is at a higher capacity as without adequate hydration ginseng wouldn’t be as effective. On the contrary, while being hydrated helps to improve cognitive function, the addition of ginseng produces greater results compared to hydration alone (Szczuka et al., 2019).

Try it for yourself..

Whether you are testing this theory with ginseng or combining water consumption with the digestion of any nutrients, it’s amazing the difference that you will notice. By enhancing your overall digestion and nutrient absorption through hydration you really can enhance the value of the superfood or nutritional supplement that you are taking!
