How to stay healthy during the holidays

With Christmas around the corner and the silly season in full swing, now is the time to consider how you’re going to celebrate while figuring out how to stay healthy during the holidays. The truth is, Christmas is a wonderful time that should be enjoyed, however that usually means yummy treats and drinks that you might normally avoid.

No need to miss out

Just because it consists of some extra calories doesn’t mean you can’t have the best of both worlds! The key to celebrating a fun Christmas but still maintaining your health and wellness is to find your balance and consistency!

How to be consistent and what with!

Being consistent is the key all year round to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle while still living your best life without missing out! Even without Christmas in the midst, learning the art of consistency is a game changer for your health and wellbeing. The best place to begin is with the little tasks, such as drinking enough water, eating nourishing meals, prioritising a good night’s sleep and moving your body daily. These are the bread and butter of healthy living and if you can get these key aspects right, then you’ll be able to give your body what it needs to thrive! Being consistent means to do these tasks daily, even during the chaos of Christmas, making these tasks non-negotiable and then putting in the fun Christmas treats around them. Where more people go wrong is by doing the opposite, letting their lives turn into Christmas treats and slotting in the healthy tasks every now and then….

Don’t give into the guilt..

For some people, leading a healthy life can make indulging an activity of guilt. This is not a trap that you want to fall into, everyone deserves to celebrate the holiday season and have fun! So give yourself some grace, allow yourself to indulge and not feel guilty because you know that 1. You deserve it and 2. You are consistent with your healthy habits so having a bit of fun will not send you spiralling backwards!

Tis the season

Just remember, the best present is being present. A few yummy treats and drinks won’t send you backwards and staying in peak physical shape at the detriment of missing out won’t make you any happier. Practise your consistency and enjoy the holiday season while still feeling health!
